In memory of seven entries to the Mario Kart series I will be giving seven rewards to the best games of the Mario kart series. The awards are: Best Concept, Best New Tracks, Best Retro Tracks, Best Characters, Best Karts, Best Options, and Most Revolutionary. Feel free to say what games you think deserve the rewards in the comments.
The Best Concept award is a tie between Mario Kart Double Dash!! and Mario Kart 7. Mario Kart Double Dash!! was the first game in the series to support multiplayer co-op. This is interesting because the games before this one have put an emphasis on competition. Mario Kart 7 features the addition of flying and underwater sequences. This will give Nintendo more options for awesome tracks in the future. Also, flying is really fun.
Best New Tracks
Mario Kart 64 takes this Prize. Mario Kart 64 features most of the good tracks in the series. Icy Sherbet Land, horrifying Banshee Boardwalk, musical Rainbow Road, etc. Mario Kart 64 features the most interesting tracks in the series.
Best Retro Tracks
Mario Kart Wii has the most creative improvements on already great tracks. For example GCN Waluigi Stadium was already fun but with the addition of tricks, the track is even more entertaining.
Mario Kart Wii wins. If not by its sheer size, by the inclusion of Miis for the first time. Also, because of its even distribution of characters into the different weight classes.
I'm sure everyone already knows which game wins this prize. Mario Kart 7 is the first Mario Kart to feature karts that you design your self. It is also the second to allow characters from all weight classes to use every kart.
Mario Kart Wii takes this "cup" because it allows its players to choose (almost) anything for its versus mode. Vehicles, engine class, computer difficulty, game length, (generalized) items, Etc. Mario Kart Wii allows you to make the most out of your vs. matches.
Mario Kart 7 takes the prize for this category because of its flying and underwater sections. Race by land, sea, and sky through this game. Flying allows for even more possibilities in the future. Also the game features tracks that have one lap split into three sections, the closest thing to this was Mario Kart Double Dash!! with Wario Stadium, having two laps.
