Mario Kart DS is the 5th game in the Mario Kart series. This game is the second to feature retro tracks (the first being Super Circuit) and the first to have the retro tracks be regular cups. the game has 16 new and 16 retro tracks. Although the game isn't anything special the inclusion of the retro tracks has a major impact on later games in the series. both Mario Kart Wii and Mario Kart 7 have retro tracks. The online in this game is terrible. As with most DS games you cannot use more advanced Wi-Fi so the online part of the game is very difficult to use. Also, it is very low quality, but it is the first game in the series to feature it. Finally, the control scheme has major impact on the multiplayer more than anything else. Snaking, drifting on straights to get speed boosts is much easier than in previous games, giving an extreme advantage to some people. Overall this game is worth buying if you are a fan of the series. If you are new to Mario Kart, I don't suggest you start with this game, as it is one of the worst in the series.
