Mario Kart 64 is the best Mario Kart game yet. Mario Kart 64 was one of the first games on the N64 to feature 4-player. With its battle mode and its vs. mode, it made a large impact on modern Mario Karts. Mario Kart 64 is also the first Mario Kart to feature 3d tracks, though some levels don’t show it off as well as others. The track with the best 3d would probably be the new Rainbow Road; as it has a very large drop at the beginning of the track, it also has several spirals, and also features the most extreme shortcut in any Mario Kart ever as it allows a player to skip half the track. This is also the first Mario Kart to feature voice acting, though small in scale. This game features eight characters (*Characters that were not in Super Mario Kart): Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Princess Toadstool, Toad, Wario*, Bowser, and Donkey Kong*. The game has sixteen new tracks for players to race on, divided into four cups of four tracks. The Battle mode is great for groups as it allows you to use items to attack your friends. The battle mode has four different stages on which to fight. This game’s largest focus is definitely on its multiplayer, and for good reason, it boasts the best multiplayer to-date. This game is worth getting, whether on the N64 or the Wii’s Virtual Console.
